How points and miles can help you see Beyoncé
|
|
Congratulations, you got Beyoncé tickets. You braved the queue, navigated Ticketmaster junk fees, and avoided having your seats disappear (this happened to me). You are going to the Cowboy Carter tour.
Hopefully, you didn’t take out a second mortgage or sell your right kidney to afford tickets, but if you did, you’re probably looking to save on flights. Points and miles can help.
Let’s get in formation.
(Oh, and just in case you are living under a rock and missed it, Beyoncé announced a tour this summer for her Grammy-winning Cowboy Carter album.)
How to get to Beyoncé tour cities
The good news is that many of the stops on the Cowboy Carter tour are in major cities. This means that you can fly into big airports with lots of options for carriers. More carriers means more competition, which means lower prices.
Because many airports have multiple carrier options, the best option for you may depend on your home airport and preferred departure times.
Here’s even better news: If you’re going to one of her concerts in a domestic US city, you can get to many of these places for less than 20K points roundtrip in economy.
(London and Paris will cost more points, but not all hope is lost there. More below.)
That’s less than one credit card signup bonus. And depending on concert dates, you may even have time to open a new card and use the points and miles from its signup bonus for your concert flight.
And if you’re looking for a new card, this card ($95 annual fee) is running a limited-time offer to earn 75k bonus miles and a $250 travel credit to use in its portal. You could even use the credit for your hotel room for the concert!
What you need to know is which credit card points transfer to which airline, and how to search for flights to book with points.

|
Here’s which card’s points transfer to each airline:
If you want to fly...
United
- Transfer UR points to United
- Cards whose points transfer 1:1 to United: this card or this card
Delta
JetBlue
- Transfer UR points to JetBlue
- Cards whose points transfer 1:1 to JetBlue: this card or this card
Southwest
- Transfer UR points to Southwest
- Cards whose points transfer 1:1 to Southwest: this card or this card
American
- As of February 2025, no credit card points transfer directly to American.
- Workaround: Check on British Airways for American Airlines flights. If you find an AA flight on British Airways, you can transfer points to British Airways Avios to book it.
- Cards whose points transfer to 1:1 Avios: All of the cards above, plus this card with the limited-time offer, this card, and this card
If you don’t have enough points yet, you have enough time to open any one of these cards, earn its bonus and use it for your flight to the concert.

How to search for flights with points:
Now that you know which credit card points transfer to which airlines, you’ll want to start by searching for flights. The best bet is to be a little flexible on your travel dates, so play around with searches a few days before and after.
Points Path Pro—one of my new favorite points search tools—is running a special, limited-time offer for Going readers:

Points Path Pro
Points Path Pro is a Chrome extension that integrates with Google Flight searches. It shows you the points price side-by-side the cash price with recommendations for which option to use.
The free version of Points Path has several major US airline programs, but I like Pro for several extra features.
Extra features in Points Path Pro:
- Access to a 7-day points calendar to make day-by-day comparison easier.
- Points price alerts that email you when a flight you’re tracking drops in price.
Airlines included: Alaska, American, Delta, JetBlue, United, Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Emirates, and Qantas
Cost: $7.99/month or $79.99/year
Special offer: From now through March 31, 2025, Going readers can get one month of Points Path Pro for free when they subscribe for two months. Use offer code ##### at checkout.

What about London and Paris?
You may escape junk fees by snagging tickets in London or Paris, but unfortunately, June is peak travel season in Europe.
London
London airports are tricky. Award flights in and out of the UK are notorious for tacking on high taxes and fees. If you can’t find a cash fare deal, points can be almost like a discount on a ticket.
- Virgin Atlantic: Under 15K points in economy class but taxes will be around $300
- Cash price on Google Flights from the East Coast: $650+
Paris
We often send points deals to Paris using Flying Blue, but unfortunately, rates are bit higher in June right now.
- Flying Blue: Approximately 80K points in economy class + taxes
- American AAdvantage: Approximately 56K points in economy class + $11 taxes
- Cash price on Google Flights from the East Coast: $620+

A disclaimer about card names:
Due to the quirks of credit card compliance, we are sometimes not allowed to use the actual names of cards or certain banks in emails. This means we have to resort to using more generic language when talking about some credit cards.
We know this can be confusing or frustrating, but we encourage you to click through to our site, where we can name and talk more candidly about the cards and their benefits. While we are bound by the rules of credit card compliance, our mission will always be to put our readers first and help you travel better for less.
