Hello,
Here we are, nearly three weeks into this administration, and we’re confronted with familiar questions: Which of the many headlines coming at me are the most important? Is President Donald Trump allowed to do what he just did? Will the courts and Congress stop him?
Given the torrent of news, it can be hard to sift through what's real, what's bluster, and what's truly consequential. We've already been inundated by push alerts that didn't end up amounting to much. At the same time, there have been genuinely significant — and genuinely harmful — actions, including some that could result in lives lost. In this moment, with chaos surrounding us, Vox is here to help you understand what decisions from this administration are worth paying attention to, what the stakes are, and what the likely implications could be.
We understand that these are overwhelming times. We live in a world with too much news and not enough understanding. Our promise is to keep you, our audience, in mind at all times — to point you to what actually matters and help you understand how to think about it. One example: We launched a new newsletter on Inauguration Day called The Logoff. Our goal is to distill for you the cascade of Trump news and focus your mind on the one Trump move that mattered most that day — all in 400 words or less.
This is just one of our many attempts to give you the understanding you need at this moment. If you believe in our mission, please support us by becoming a Vox Member. It’s the best way to ensure we’re able to continue producing the journalism you rely on.
Thank you for being part of our Vox community. We’re glad you’re here.
