🎧 DEVON TURNBULL RECOMMENDS: Jazz Record Center
Why: For over 40 years, Jazz Record Center has set the bar for vinyl collectors, DJs, aficionados and casual listeners alike. The quaint shop specializes in Jazz as the name would suggest, but is also a solid location for other genres as well, not to mention other media like CDs, books, magazines and more.
Where: 236 W 26th St #804, New York, NY 10001

🚨 NEW SHOP ALERT: Stüssy New York Chapter
Why: Stüssy returns to New York City with its brand new, extra large location in the prime of SoHo. Situated one street over from its original Spring St. spot, the new Prince St. location – just around the corner from Lafayette – should be familiar for locals while also being a bit easier for visitors to find. Design-wise, the new shop is conceptualized by LA-based firm Perron–Roettinger, who also designed other recent locations for Stüssy like Madrid, Fukuoka, Paris and others.
Where: 50 Prince St., New York, NY 10012

🍜 CORY NG RECOMMENDS: Great NY Noodletown
Why: A staple within the Manhattan crowd, Great NY Noodletown is often the gateway to the city's Chinatown – metaphorically for its old-school appeal as well as its literal right off the Manhattan Bridge location. If it's your first time, skip everything and go straight for the Wonton Noodle Soup. If you're a regular, try their Congee porridges with "You Tiao/Yau Char Kwai" – Mandarin and Cantonese respectively for a fried dough stick for dipping. "This place is a Chinatown institution. Classic authentic Cantonese food that warms the soul!"
Where: 28 Bowery, New York, NY 10013

🥯 OFF THE BAKING PATH: Utopia Bagels
Why: More of a local legend than a tourist destination, Utopia Bagel – named after its bustling Utopia Parkway location – has been the morning go-to for its Flushing/Whitestone residents for decades. Stick with the classics – toasted Everything bagel with Lox, or a good ol' sausage egg and cheese, ketchup optional.
Where: 1909 Utopia Pkwy, Whitestone, NY 11357
